The Judas Tree (Cercis)
The Judas tree (Cercis) is a tree with exceptionally beautiful flowers. It does not bloom on new twigs but on bare branches (including older branches). This unique blooming pattern makes it a striking sight.
The Judas tree blooms in spring before the tree produces leaves, causing it to light up in the spring. The flowers are pink/purple in color.
The Olive Tree Specialist offers the following varieties of Judas trees:
- Cercis canadensis (winter-hardy up to -15°C)
- Cercis siliquastrum (winter-hardy up to -20°C)
The Judas tree can grow 5 to 8 meters tall, making it an attractive small to medium-sized tree or large shrub for the garden.
