Olea europaea “Forma Toscana”

The iconic Italian olive tree from Tuscany. These olive trees are limited in availability, as they are protected under Italian cultural heritage laws. As a result, only a restricted number may be uprooted and exported.

The “Forma Toscana” is distinguished by its traditional Italian open pruning style and its playful, naturally twisted branching structure. Originating from a region where severe frost can occur, these trees are exceptionally well adapted to colder climates and tolerate Dutch weather conditions very well. Olea europaea “Forma Toscana” is highly resistant to diseases and fungal infections, requiring minimal care even during winter.

With their impressive wide and tall branching, these olive trees truly stand out from the crowd. They are of outstanding quality and undergo strict quality control procedures, featuring beautiful crowns and healthy, high-grade foliage.

We invite you to visit our nursery and experience the quality for yourself.

Selected by us, the hardiest and most disease-resistant olive trees from the inland regions of Spain where a continental climate prevails. These olive trees have grown large on their own strength without irrigation on the land, making them the hardiest and most disease-resistant olive trees. As a result, these olive trees can excellently withstand more northern climates as well.

With the beautiful wide and high branching of these olive trees, the OlijfboomSpecialist distinguishes itself from the masses. These olive trees are of unparalleled quality and undergo strict quality controls. Beautiful full crowns and very high-quality, healthy foliage. Visit our nursery and see for yourself!

The olive tree is one of the oldest cultivated crops on earth and originates from countries around the Mediterranean Sea.

For thousands of years, the olive tree has been cultivated in the Mediterranean region. Due to its valuable fruits (olives), the olive tree is excellent for the production of oils and foodstuffs. With its gnarled appearance and timeless allure, an olive tree is a purchase for life. It's no wonder there are olive trees over 2000 years old!

Characteristic of olive trees are the gnarled, deeply grooved trunk and the lush, silvery crown. In young olive trees, the trunk is still smooth and gray, but every year it becomes darker, gnarlier, and more crooked. The leaves are always green and are renewed every three years.

The leaves feel leathery and their shape and size resemble willow leaves. The top of the leaves is green while the underside is silver-gray. From April to June, small white blossoms hang in clusters on the branches of the olive tree. These blossoms emit a sweet and pleasant scent. The fruit of the olive tree is a stone fruit resembling a plum with a thin skin and very oil-rich flesh.

Because of the symbolism of olive trees (peace, love, and fidelity), the olive tree is ideal as a gift for births, weddings, or other occasions. Also, as a keepsake for a dear deceased person, an olive tree has valuable significance.

The olive tree not only feels at home in the Mediterranean soil where it originated. Even in more northern climates, an olive tree feels at home and can even produce fruit during a warm summer!

In short: The olive tree, a timeless centerpiece in your garden!
