The Pomegranate tree (Punica granatum)
The pomegranate tree (Punica granatum) originates from the eastern part of the Mediterranean region and symbolizes love and fertility.
The name "pomegranate" comes from the fact that when the fruit ripens and falls to the ground, the seeds scatter in all directions.
The Punica granatum has an irregular growth habit and blooms in the summer with red, tubular flowers. Shortly thereafter, when there is enough light and warmth, fruit will begin to form. The leaves are green and oval-shaped and fall off in the autumn.
The Punica granatum is best placed in full sun or partial shade. Pruning is best done in the spring.
In short: a symbolic tree with vibrant red flowers and delicious, nutrient-packed fruit, making it a perfect addition to any garden.
