The Portugal Laurel (Prunus lusitanica 'Angustifolia')
The Portugal laurel (Prunus lusitanica 'Angustifolia') is an evergreen shrub with beautiful, glossy, dark green leaves. The leaves of the Portugal laurel are relatively narrow and 8 to 10 cm long.
In spring, around May, flower buds develop into long, elegant flower clusters. The blooming period lasts only a few weeks. The young twigs of the Portugal laurel are dark red in color.
The Portugal laurel can grow to a height of 3 to 5 meters and is fairly winter-hardy as long as it is planted in a sheltered spot. It tolerates pruning very well and can therefore be used for various applications.
In short: a beautiful evergreen shrub with lovely dark green and glossy leaves.
