The evergreen Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora)
The Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) is one of the few evergreen magnolias.
The Magnolia grandiflora has large leaves that are dark green and glossy on the upper side. The underside of the leaves is quite the opposite: brown and matte.
In summer, large, cup-shaped, white, fragrant flowers with a diameter of about 25 cm appear. The Magnolia grandiflora is available in various pruning forms, such as standard tree, half-standard, espalier, and shrub forms.
The Southern Magnolia is winter-hardy down to about -19 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for planting in Western Europe.
In short: a beautiful evergreen tree with stunning blooms that is easily adaptable everywhere!
